Islam and Environmental Law: The Cambridge Handbook and the Road to Antalya

  • Center for Earth Jurisprudence (map)

Part of Climate Week NYC 2026, this session brings together the editors of The Cambridge Handbook of Islam and Environmental Law, published by Cambridge University Press in 2026, with contributors across fourteen countries. The text explores how fourteen centuries of Islamic jurisprudence offer practical legal solutions for modern ecological governance ahead of the COP31 climate talks, which convene in Antalya, Türkiye in November, the fourth Muslim-majority host in five years.

This online event is hosted by the Nazda Alam Foundation, Center for Earth Jurisprudence, and Schell Center for International Human Rights and is open to students, practitioners, and policy audiences.
